MAKE THE ONE HOUR WALK OUT STRIKE ON 22^ND JANUARY 2013 A THUMPING SUCCESS

Following the decision of the Working Committee of AIIEA held at Mysore in July 2012, the Secretariat of the AIIEA which met at Delhi on 25^th November 2012 decided to call for a one hour walk out strike preceding lunch recess on 22^nd January 2013 to press for early solution to the pending issues like one more option for joining Pension Scheme 1995 and the other issues.

One more option for Pension has been a residual demand of the last wage revision. In spite of repeated approaches with both the LIC and Public Sector General Insurance managements, the issue relating to one more option to join the Pension Scheme 1995 is not being resolved.  The government’s attitude on this issue seems to be one of delay and denial.  Hence, AIIEA is mobilizing the concerted voice of the employees to carry the demand to the respective authorities and force an early resolution of this demand.

AIIEA’s demand with LIC management for improvement in the present pension scheme is being kept aside with the response that the matter is before the Supreme Court. Even the demand for increase in the exgratia pension for pre 1-1-86 retirees also is not considered so far. 

The demand for introduction of a scheme for upgradation of RPTs in LIC is awaiting a solution for the last one year. This issue brooks no further delay. In spite of repeated assurances of the LIC management the scheme is yet to take a concrete shape. Recognition of AIIEA is a democratic demand invoking the principle of industrial democracy.  The management of LIC is still to make up their mind even for a response on this important issue.

                                                                                                                               

In general insurance sector, the assured recruitment is yet to take place. The formula for productivity linked incentive is being limited to few people and our demand to end the discrimination is yet to be addressed.

It is in this background that the employees in LIC and Public Sector General Insurance Companies have to send a strong signal to the managements and the government that while the employees are committed to the protection of the Public Sector Insurance industry, they are also equally committed to achieving their just demands.  The ONE HOUR WALK OUT STRIKE PRECEDING LUNCH RECESS ON 22^ND JANUARY 2013 should be successfully observed to achieve this task.
