 WFTU CALLS FOR

INTERNATIONAL ACTION DAY

ON 3^RD OCTOBER 2011

You are aware that AIIEA is affiliated to the Trade Union International of Banks and Financial Sector Unions.  TUI (BIFU) in turn is affiliated to World Federation of Trade Unions.

WFTU called upon the workers across the world to observe 3^rd October 2011 as INTERNATIONAL ACTION DAY on the following demands. 

*Government funded Social Security for all

*Right to Trade Union activity and Right to Collective Bargaining

*Better wages for decent living.

3rd October also happens to be the foundation day of WFTU (WFTU was formed on 3^rd October 1945).

We request all our units to observe this programme through lunch hour gate meetings on 3^rd October 2011 at all the offices focusing on the above demands.

Wherever possible, our units should coordinate with CITU, AITUC and other unions which are observing this programme.  

The other issues which are being focused across the world by the WFTU are (1) Solidarity with the people of Palestine and (2) freedom to the five Cubans who are detained in the USA.
