Taminadu Government Chooses Public Sector Insurance

After becoming the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu,  Selvi Jayalitha had done a laudable thing for the First  Time .

On Wednesday, She had inaugurated the New Medical  Insurance Scheme for the People of Tamilnadu. It is an expansion of the Previous  'Kalaignar Kappeettu Thittam' introduced  in the previous DMK  Regime.

The Main Difference between the Two Schemes is, the Present Scheme  is to be administered by  the United India Insurance Company ltd. The First  Installment of Premium was handed over  by the CM to the CMD of United India Insurance Company Ltd.

The Previous Regime handed over the Scheme  to the Private " Star" Insurance Company. Despite strong protests  by  the  Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association and Tamilnadu Primary School Teachers Front  when it was introduced for them and the demand to entrust the Scheme to any Public Sector Company, the then Government proceeded the Scheme for People also with Star.

The Government also ignored the complaints of its own employees and the people over the functioning of Star.

I also recollect that when I had an opportunity to take part in a Live Debate Programme by “ MAKKAL T.V”, the questions from the Anchor as well as  the viewers  were  only around this scheme though the topic was different. The DMK Government made the people to believe that the Medical Scheme is introduced not for the benefit of the people but for the gain of STAR.

The Present Government took a right step.

Will it Continue?
